Juniors claim League Cup semi-final spot

Result: Leeds 1-2 Cobh Wanderers.

The juniors recorded a well deserved victory over Leeds to advance to the semi’s of the league cup this evening. Kevin Wilmot scored the opener after only two minutes when his tame enough effort somehow found it’s way past the keeper and to the corner of the net. Leeds equalised on 15 minutes when the Wanderers defence were asleep for a quick free kick down the right and a cross found the striker on his own at the far post for a tap-in. Josh O’ Mahony and Kevin Wilmot had good chances to put Wanderers back in the lead before half time but their efforts were smothered and pulled wide respectively.

Wilmot put Wanderers back into the lead on 62 minutes with a header and almost extended the lead soon after with a curled effort that narrowly missed. Wanderers created a lot of chances to extend the lead against the premier team but Leeds failed to make them pay. An excellent performance all over the pitch this evening. Best for Wanderers were Kevin Wilmot, Ian Murphy and the evergreen Dave Walsh with Oisín Cronin putting in a solid performance at right-full.
