Cobh Wanderers Football Club

JUNIORS: Carrigaline United 3-0 Cobh Wanderers.

615x400The juniors rounded off their league cup campaign with a very disappointing display in Carrigaline. Following a fine performance against Fermoy in midweek, the team never got started on Saturday evening. The home side took the lead on 15 minutes following a swift counter attack. Carrigaling missed a few good chances to increase this lead but Will O’ Hanlons’ Kung Fu kick in the box eventually allowed them to double the lead from the spot on 38 minutes. A freak injury during the break to McDermott forced Bucks to take over in goal for the second half. Bucks was forced into some fine saves during the half to limit the damage.

Wanderers did create some good chances during the game through Griffin and Daly mainly, but some last ditch defending and much over-playing meant a blank return. Carrigaline managed to add a third goal on 72 minutes with an absolute rocket of a drive from the home team substitute.
